When pants are not pants...

Whilst we’re talking about pants, a note to those amongst you who are not from the UK - If by pants you mean trousers, beware. Pants in the UK means something else altogether!

In the UK, ‘pants’ means underpants, knickers or undies. It is also commonly used to describe something that is nonsense, rubbish, or no good. For example, someone might say “That’s pants.”

You may also find yourself in a pickle if you're used to using the word ‘thong’ to describe rubber sandals. In the UK, this means G-string! Rubber sandals are called ‘flip-flops'.
